Yorke Peninsula

The Yorke Peninsula region attracts over 597,000 visitors a year, and with a surge in coastal development every style of holiday is well catered for, from family holiday shacks to caravan parks and 5 star luxury accommodation. Tourism is very much a forerunner in Yorke Peninsula's future development and growth.

The perfect way top describe the lifestyle of the Yorke Peninsula region is relaxed and laid back. With numerous things to do such as sightseeing, fishing, bush walking, diving, snorkelling, crabbing, boating, bird watching, wildlife, soaking up colourful history, enjoying the magnificent scenery or just laying back and relaxing. With a growing number of eateries including taverns, pubs, café's and restaurants you can be as busy or as relaxed as you choose.

Yorke Peninsula 's coastline is plagued with shipwrecks and the fascinating history of their end. Yorke Peninsula's Historical Shipwrecks brochure details the history of many of the shipwrecks. There are also two waterproof maritime trail booklets available. The Wardang Island Maritime Heritage Trail has 8 shipwrecks within 10 miles to explore in clear shallow waters making it ideal for novice shipwreck divers. The Investigator Strait Maritime Heritage Trail is between Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island and features 26 shipwrecks dating from 1849 to 1892. You can get the booklets from The Farm Shed Museum & Tourism Centre, Kadina and Harvest Corner Information & Craft, Minlaton or the Department of Environment and Heritage.
